Inspirational Prompts for Christmas, Heart shaped snowball, forgivenessurnal with a candy cane as decoration

Forgive yourself for not knowing what you didn't know.

Today’s word to contemplate is forgiveness. It’s a big word with the potential of having big feelings attached to it. Sit with it for a moment today. Let the thoughts roll through your mind. Give yourself time to think back on what has been going on this past year.

What do you have to forgive and what do you have to ask forgiveness for?

Forgiveness:

Forgiveness isn't just the absence of anger. I think it's also the presence of self-love, when you actually begin to value yourself  -Tara Westover

The holidays can be a challenging time when we face people who we used to be close with but may have had a disagreement with during the past year. Or maybe we’ve been hanging on to issues from the past for a long time. This is the time of the year when I would like to encourage you to choose forgiveness.

Forgiveness is as much for you as the person you are forgiving. If you don’t, you’re holding on to anger and resentment. Those feelings hurt you as much, if not more than the person you are feeling them towards. Sometimes it goes even further. Are you unintentionally hurting others around you as well?

Christmas is the season of love and of forgiveness. Embrace it and use it as an opportunity to take the first step, make that call and hold out your hand in friendship, whether you think you were the one in the wrong or not. It may just end up being the biggest gift you give yourself this year
