Should You Write Holiday-Themed Blog Posts?

Editor’s Note: This post is also shared in my Quiet Start newsletter — my free weekly email for introverted coaches and solopreneurs in the messy middle of business.

Is Holiday Blog Content Right for you?

Joelene Mills

I love autumn, honestly, it is my favourite time of the year. Online business wise, however; I used to dread October.

Everywhere you look, someone’s yelling about seasonal strategy—pumpkin this, Black Friday that. And I’d sit there wondering, “Am I supposed to tie my coaching blog to Halloween somehow?”

Do I post about leadership lessons from witches? Boundary-setting like a vampire? (Please no.)

Ok, mabye I wasn’t that dramatic, but it sure was in my head. The final solution, for me, has been I can talk about the holidays—but I don’t have to. And the same goes for you.

If your offer, audience, or message naturally connects to what’s happening seasonally, go for it. But if mentioning Halloween feels like forcing small talk at a networking event, skip it. You’re better off writing something timeless that still feels like you.

Quiet marketing isn’t about ignoring the calendar. It’s about choosing what’s appropriate—and staying aligned with what actually moves your reader.

🪶 This week’s quiet move:

Before you hit publish, ask: Would this still matter a month from now?

If yes, write it. If not, decide whether you’re okay with it being a “moment” piece. Either way, make it intentional.
