How to Find Your Calm in the Holiday Chaos (Without Losing It)

The holidays are upon us, bringing with them all their chaotic demands on family, shopping, and work. As an introverted entrepreneur, this can feel like one big battle between your needs for peace and quietness and the relentless demands that come with the season.

"The holiday season is a reminder that the best gift you can give yourself is the space to simply be"

For the first time in years, I found moments of solitude and reflection during the holiday rush — and I want to share how with you. Because I have learned that if you are not intentionally seeking those peaceful moments, you’re setting yourself up for burnout.

Here are five things you should do to help find your calm this holiday season:

  • Schedule Your Quiet Moments – As a business owner, it’s easy to get swept up in the hustle, but you are not going to show up for your clients or your business if you’re running on empty. So, start scheduling short five-minute “quiet” breaks throughout the day. Whether it is sipping your morning coffee in peace, meditating for a few minutes, or simply stepping outside to breathe in fresh air, these little moments recharge your batteries.
  • Create a Cozy, Quiet Space for Reflection –Being an introvert means that when you do find time to unwind, you need it to be in the right environment, so be sure to create one. It doesn’t have to be a whole room—just a corner with a comfy chair, soft lighting, and maybe a soothing candle. (I go to my deck swing, even in the cold.) This space becomes sacred during the chaos of holidays: your place to reflect, plan, or just be. When everything feels loud, this is your grounding spot to reconnect with your inner self.
  • The Power of Saying No (and Saying It Early) – This is where you get to be a little rebellious. Holidays often come with a million and one invitations, obligations, and requests-most especially if you are a business owner. Saying “no” does not make you selfish; saying “no” makes you smart.

Be intentional about events and engagements taken on. One can be in the Holiday Spirit without over-committing. Give yourself a present of time and space, so you actually get to enjoy the holidays instead of just survive them..

  • Slow Down Your Business Pace – You and I both know we can’t just hit “pause” on our business, but you can slow down. Take the time to reflect on what is working in your business and what you want to change in the coming year. For me, I make it a point to schedule time to review the year’s goals, successes, and growth areas while making my work time a little more scheduled. That way, I am productive, yet without holiday burnout.
  • Make Self-Care Non-Negotiable – Here’s your new holiday mantra: Self-care is not optional. If you’re anything like me, your quiet time might include things like journaling, a 20-minute SuperNatural session, yoga, or taking a long bath. Self-care can look different for anyone-find what works for you and make it happen. Make this a priority. It’s a gift to yourself and your business.

I get it. You’re an introverted entrepreneur, and the holidays are overwhelming. But don’t let the season steal your peace. By taking intentional steps to ensure you have some quiet moments, set boundaries, and prioritize your well-being, you’ll not only survive the holidays-you’ll thrive during them.
