Why Overstuffed Content Backfires (and What to Do Instead)

For years, I thought giving more was the key. More tips, more steps, more “value.” I thought I was being generous.

But whenever I published those long posts, I got the same reaction: nothing. Low engagement. Few replies. No momentum.

The truth? Overstuffed content doesn’t help. It overwhelms.

Here’s what I’ve noticed happens when you pack too much in:

  • People don’t finish reading.

  • The main point gets lost.

  • Writing takes twice as long and leaves you drained.

The fix is straightforward: simplify.

  • Focus on one idea per post.

  • Cut the extras.

  • Save the rest for later.

Clear and focused content isn’t less valuable—it’s easier to use. And when your readers can actually use what you share, they’ll stick around.
